With minor tweaking ahead, the new Seaplane Forum has reached the 60 member count on May 2nd. It is exciting to see the relatively high level of activity and the subjects being discussed. Sure, everyone needs some time to warm up to a new forum and sometimes different usernames – but it is already prevalent that people enjoy the concept of being able to see whats going on in other interest groups. While feedback from State SPA’s was overwhelmingly positive it remains to be seen if we will be capable of upholding the buzz and keep member numbers growing. Future plans are geared toward continued improvement of the Seaplane Pilot Network. To reach the set goals of interactive connectivity and an uninterrupted flow of information we need everyones effort.
New sections have been and are being established. We now foster “How To Fly Floats” as well as “Stuck Microphone” subdiscussion boards available to registered members. Future features include a WTB & For Sale section, which will be available on a very affordable subscription basis for advertisers anf free to browse. Individual & Corporate sponsors (flight schools, maintenance, insurance, SPB’s) are sought as this privately funded endeavor grows.
While some associations may select not to be officially represented by, or within our forum, it will still be possible and up to the individual member, to participate in it, nonetheless. Knowing about safety meetings, fly-ins and possibly quite local hot button issues, but also the further extension of our network will be a valuable contributor to making our kind of flying more accessible to newcomers and the public. New people and freshly rated seaplane pilots may yet feel hesitant to join a new organization, or not even know about it! In the forum they will have an awesome opportunity to research & learn, before they buy. Our group is set to foster open, honest and non censored communication. The forum will remain to be a noncompetitive environment that enables new and old members to be around their “own” people. Some already call it their new Seaplane Home.
If you are a seaplane pilot, looking for a dedicated platform to “Talk Seaplanes!” we will be ready for you when you are!
