I have to admit that seeing a group of inidviduals pulling together is exciting. But I also have to admit that having signed up 70 new members within the first week and a half after launching my “product of passion”, I am deeply humbled and surprised! Administrating SPA’s forum for quite a while, never yielded such response. I started this morning at 8:15 with 59 members and signed # 70 up at 11:04 PM. While the first two weeks have been extremely time-consuming and stressful, it feels great to see that people enjoy the platform. We house a few very well-known names in the seaplane industry, and our membership will benefit from their wisdom and experience. We have also gained a few industry members who are previously almost unknown to the community, or at least only locally. They are committed to providing excellent advise and guidance to members, rather than selling them products and services. The concept of community sponsorship based advertising is well received so far.
Visitor counts where up today with a maximum of 20+ online at any given time of the day. From breakfast to dinner the forum was occupied by members, but also individuals who have not yet signed up. Making this forum accessible to everyone to read (at least most functions and sections) has proven to be a step in the right direction. While guest are most certainly welcome to browse, I believe the added features of belonging to the community of people who have pushed the IDENT button will increase the value of the forum tremendously! We already have people from the east coast communicating with people from the west coast. Imagine the opportunity! Cross this country, include Canada, then add Europe, all accessible with a simple click! Introduce your local community to the world, let people know you are there, exchange helpful tips and advise… The possibilities are really almost unlimited. Make use of it and push the IDENT button. Reach out to other “seaplane nuts”, make new friends, or just read and browse. Whatever you choose to do, you are going to be in great company. Grassroots works! This forum is the result of 5 emails. Many, many more have been written since, but initially involved where 5 (!) people.
