The Seaplaneforum.com site opened it’s doors again today, to accept new members after our December debacle. In December, the site was temporarily shut down due to an internal email subscription issue. Along the way, we suffered from the loss of almost 60 members and temporarily had guests and lurkers wondering if the site was going to be back. Inactive accounts as well as many users of AOL got junked and I am sure that did not sit well with everybody. We have almost fully recovered, are still the same friendly bunch of seaplane pilots and are now, more than ever, ready for some fresh air. If you can see yourself as an active participant, please click on the new logo picture and register for your account! Feel free to read here how to do that.
Seaplaneforum.com on Twitter & Facebook
I have long been hesitant to join Twitter, for several reasons. One of them is that I dislike starting things, and then not being able to finish them as promised. What’s worse than a Twitter account with 300+ followers who have not heard a beep (or tweet) from you in 4 months? A Facebook account where they haven’t heard from you either! However – with the incredible headwind and stonewalling I have experienced within the seaplane industry after April of 2010, I decided that I could no longer keep trying to nail raw eggs to a wall. If people can’t talk to one another for dubious political reasons and associated brainwashing… so be it! A new generation of seaplane pilots is interested, but literally unable to learn about seaplanes and how to get started with this love affair. Hence – we had to be on Twitter and we had to be on Facebook. Time will tell how it will pan out. There is always hope, that something magic will happen and we finally manage to jump these shadows, especially once July comes.
Last but not least
I could use help from pilots and members with a passion for seaplanes, in helping me to promote this discussion board. Besides the Sponsors and Individual Supporters who help me tremendously to make this possible, I have found and facilitated a new store for the 2011 Seaplaneforum.com Merchandise . While the commissions paid are small, they help me offset some of the expenses. Most importantly they help us to reach the world. Do you know that only two Aviation Forum’s do not view the seaplaneforum as competition, out to steal their revenue dollars? The tone and style from some of these guru’s has frosted my pumpkins. Hence, I decided to stop participating on forums who cannot actively embrace the fact that seaplanes deserve their own discussion board. A well placed T-Shirt or other apparel items will help to get the word out, attract new members and help to locate and secure future sponsors. Our current Sponsor Network and Supporters kept the lights on, but my sincere hope and goal for 2011 is to light a few more candles. Please let me know of you find someone who could benefit from a bit of exposure and/ or possibly their own, seaplane related discussion board section. Don’t worry, I do not own 3 airplanes and I also have not put a deposit on the Mansion in Beverly Hills.
